I am lucky to have grown up in a very musical household! My father played harmonica with Plymouth-based band ‘The Legal Eagles’ and my brothers are all musicians with direct links to blues and roots music. My childhood was spent listening to Taj Mahal, Aretha Franklin, Dr John, Carole King and Joni Mitchell.

After moving to Plymouth in 2008 I met virtuoso blues guitarist/vocalist Vince Lee, and began singing with him at different gigs around Plymouth. In 2009 we going forces with my two brothers, Thomas Ford and Tim Langsford, as well as Patrick James Pearson and Al Wallis, to put together 'Thomas Ford & The Dirty Harmonys'. We played around in the South West and occasionally in Europe, make some records and had a lot of fun.

During this time Vince and I began working on a duo set, which became the foundation of what we're still doing now, where we share vocals, Vince plays guitar/12-string/mandolin/banjo/kazoo and I accompany him on the washboard. We are influenced by the pioneers of early blues, Bessie Smith, Leadbelly, Memphis Minnie & Blind Boy Fuller to name a few. Together we have played shows all over Devon and Cornwall, as well as having the opportunity to perform further afield. Vince has introduced me to so many great musicians, and I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to learn so much from him and to play music together.

I released my debut album, ‘Big Surprise’ in 2011 and have also worked with many local artists, including Head of Programmes, The Wildcards, Thomas Ford, Mama Tokus, Alex Hart and Becky Brine, adding backing vocals and washboard.

In 2015 I was introduced to Martin Barre (of Jethro Tull) and was asked to join the band on tour, as a backing singer/percussionist alongside well-known country singer, and my good friend, Alex Hart. Martin offered us the opportunity to open the shows during our recent tour in Germany, and so Alex and I began developing a set of country blues and folk inspired tunes. We released our debut EP ‘Long Way Home’ in October 2015, featuring 4 songs that were recorded, mixed and mastered by Vince Lee, who also plays guitar and double bass on the record. We've been touring with Martin ever since and he's become a great friend.

In October 2017, Alex and I got together with Elani Evangelou and Martha Nash to form our newest project - The Trees. We've played only a handful of shows so far but the response has been fantastic, and over the next few months we're planning videos, gigs and hopefully some recording. As well as this, we'll still all be working and supporting each other with our own projects. We'll keep you updated! x
